Angela Shepherd LLB
Angela was educated at Tadcaster Grammar School and obtained a degree in Law from the University of East Anglia. Having completed her Legal Practice Course at the College of Law in York in 2000, she trained with Scott Duff & Co in Carlisle and Penrith, qualifying as a solicitor in 2003. She joined Drivers in 2005 where she has worked ever since as a general residential conveyancing specialist, and acting also for developers in residential development plot sales.
Stephen Thorn M.A. (Cantab)
Following his schooling at Ecclesbourne Grammar School in Derbyshire, Stephen obtained a degree in Law from the University of Cambridge. He qualified as a solicitor in 1986, having passed the Solicitors’ Finals Course at the College of Law at Guildford and then trained with City of London firm Allen & Overy. Following spells in the private client and agricultural departments of two large Norwich firms Stephen moved to North Yorkshire in 1992, where he has practised in residential and commercial property and also private client ever since. Stephen was a partner in Drivers from April 2000 until March 2019, when he retired as a partner but was retained by the firm as an employed “Consultant” solicitor working principally in wills, probate and general private client.
Catherine Thorn MA (Cantab)
Catherine was educated at Norwich High School for Girls GDST having won a Direct Grant scholarship; she qualified as a solicitor in 1988, having obtained a degree in Law from the University of Cambridge and passed the Solicitors’ Finals course at the College of Law in Chester, and having trained with Norwich firm Overbury, Steward & Eaton; following qualification she was retained to work as an assistant solicitor almost exclusively in private client where she continued for four years before moving to North Yorkshire with her husband Stephen Thorn. She has taken time out from practice for family reasons, but since qualification has worked as a fee earner either exclusively or part time in private client over a total of twelve years, and has amassed valuable probate experience from a wide range of estates spanning the thirty years since her qualification. At present she is principally assisting with regulatory compliance so is not taking on any new client matters, but from time to time she may assist other fee earners with their private client work.
